Illusion

The snow from last weekend's ridiculous blizzard is starting to melt, it's a little rainy/drippy out, giving the illusion that a much wanted (by me at least!) spring is en route.

In a different vein, my good friend Tracy B Ann (catch her on Radio Free Nashville Tuesdays at 10 am EST for THE POLITICS OF DOGS) turned me onto this ILLUSION COLLAR that is being touted by Cesar Millan on his website. I'm not sure if Cesar added an "L" inbetween the L and U to honor his wife, Ilusion, for her "invention", but I found the info a bit disheartening. The little video doesn't really say much about how it works (aversive to be sure) but does show in the "after" footage the handler of Rusty doing several corrections and Rusty having, what to my eye looks like NO CONNECTION to his handler. But what really scared me was this!

WARNING: If your dog's neck measures less than 13 inches at the base, or your dog weighs less than 18 lbs, you should NOT use the collar. The Illusion collar is not intended for puppies under one year of age. Dogs with any breathing problems, such as "pushed-in faces" that restrict breathing; dogs with trachea or throat problems, such as Pomeranians; and dogs with elongated, overly slender necks, such as Greyhounds, should NOT use the collar. Consult your local professional or veterinarian for further advice.

Eek! I can almost hear the quick speaking rap of those announcers on prescription medication commercials zipping through the disclaimers which always puts a little angst into me!

With Har-Vest and/or the no pull harnesses, there are no limitations based on size, age, or breed type!
